Well, you invest in good quality fireproof cabinets. You can get many of these at iShopit.com, and you will be truly spoilt for choice. For instance, there is the Fire King (verticals – 25, 31 inches, horizontals – 31, 38, and 44 inches), which provides resistance to fire for up to 2 hours. This one gives great protection. You can also buy Schwab file cabinets, (verticals 20, 25 and 31 inches, laterals – 36 and 43 inches). This has the feature of Mixed Media, and is truly the best fireproof cabinet, providing resistance to water and fire damages.

Another factor you should consider while choosing a fireproof file cabinet is whether or not is has good impact resistance rating – should you need to drop it from a great height to save it from fire, will it be damaged by the fall? Also, when buying a fireproof filing cabinet, look at the different kinds of locking systems available – electronic, individual, etc.

Brand Awareness and the Fundamentals of Brandcasting

For a company to become well known in the online world, you might think that they would have to spend a large amount of money. While marketing budgets of leading companies are extensive, many effective online branding strategies can easily be achieved with nothing more than creativity and determination.

You have a good brand if people can recall your product or service from memory. You want them to trust you and think of you and your website before they think about any competitors. Branding isn't just for big businesses; small businesses, especially those with an online presence, can't afford not to start some kind of brand awareness campaign.

There is no shortcut to branding success. If you take a look at some of the sales promises made today, you would think that all you need to do to make millions is to launch a website and use free search engine submission services. These kinds of tactics don't give you the whole truth.

Brand awareness, or brandcasting, is a strategy that will define a company, show how it is unique, while creating a comfort level in the potential customer. A large part of branding is being consistent in everything about your company. This includes the company's message and vision, the website, the employees, and even the packaging. Who are you and what are your values? All this takes time and vision.

8 Reasons why outsourcing fails to deliver the desired results

Outsourcing - the word everyone loves to hate. I was at a seminar last week talking about outsourcing with law firms. In the Q&A session that followed a delegate took it upon herself to grab the microphone and tell everyone never to even consider outsourcing because she had a bad experience! Luckily the voice of reason from another delegate who was able to tell of her good experience with outsourcing.

It is this kind of reaction that shows me just how unpopular and unrealistic the view is on outsourcing. If I put this in perspective, we as business people have all had employees in the past that did not work out for variety of reasons but none of us would stand up and say 'I tried to have an employee once but they did not work out - so I suggest that no one ever looks into employing a person again!'

Yes sometimes outsourcing fails to deliver the expected result, but there is always a very logical reason for this.

So let's look at some of the reasons why outsourcing fails.

1) The process is not clearly defined or properly mapped out.

This is especially prevalent in processes which are considered low value and low risk for example transcription services. Because anyone could type a letter or enter a purchase ledger invoice why spend valuable time on something that seems easy. And this is where it all goes wrong, your outsourcing provider will be bound by the written process document if they are ISO certified, so what happens where no punctuation is dictated? If you stick to the process  where this is undefined then you will receive an entire document returned with no punctuation. A worse case scenario is receiving a document with punctuation of the transcribers interpretation, thereby running the risk of changing the entire meaning of a sentence by the use of punctuation. Other things to consider are how are addresses written, how is capitalisation handled, how are numbers written? These things all need to be mapped out and believe me when I tell you this will be around 10 pages of documentation and this is just for transcription and I have not touched on Finance and Accounting.
