Use a Forum

There are many forums’ currently on the web that are free to use and completely devoted to matching webmasters in need of services like data entry with individuals who can provide that service. Be sure to register at several sites and participate as much as possible. If it is allowed, include a link to your own website to familiarize potential clients with your work. It is not enough to simply ‘lurk’ around these forums. Your registration and participation are a vital part of your journey towards finding home based data entry jobs.

Follow the Rules

Each forum or freelance site has a specific set of terms and conditions that you probably had to agree to in order to register with them. Make sure to follow these rules to the ‘T.’ blatantly ignoring or breaking rules will get you banned. Not only will you lose out on potential home based data entry jobs from that forum or site, your reputation will also be tarnished. You would be surprised at just how small the community really is. Protect yourself by carefully following any rules.

Learn the Ropes

As tempting as it is to just jump in and start working, spend a least a few days learning the ropes. Read job postings and the bids of other people. Send private messages to several clients and service providers to learn what works and what does not. This will allow you to learn how to properly submit a bid, what the current going rates are and much more. It may seem like a ‘waste of time’ while you are doing it, but over the long haul, you will save yourself a lot of headaches by being better prepared for bidding on home based data entry jobs. One word of caution – do not abuse the ability to PM people – it is a sure way to develop a bad reputation.  Alan Lim
