When your chauffeur opens the door of the limousine and you peer outside it is easy to be overwhelmed by the stardom that lies ahead. I’ve seen bride’s maids in an elegant dresses fall ungracefully out of our limousine in front of crowded wedding party’s trying to exit by walking head first out of the vehicle. This often leads to complaints that the rear doors need to be extended and that they are not big enough to comfortably get in and out of the limousine. What is not understood is that these doors are the same as those found on the original sedans of which people enter and exit everyday of the week without complaint. The solution is simple, approach entering and exiting a limousine as you would a sedan. When entering place your buttocks in the rear seat first then lift your legs into the vehicle, once inside you will have time to check out the limousine and select where you want to sit. Exiting is exactly the opposite, sit on the rear seat, take one last look at the luxuries that you’ve enjoyed and exit as you would a sedan. If you are one of the first to enter a limousine, it is best you find a seat to the front of the vehicle; this will allow others space to enter the vehicle. |

The first step to successful Leadership is to think in terms of both people and management - putting in the right systems and processes so that these people can perform at a high level. Manage your Understanding of Your People An effective Manager keeps a file on each of their reports, and they use this to plan and manage day to day actions with each person. The first step is to get to know each of your Team members. The best way of doing this initially is to observe them from a distance as they work or interact with others. Develop this understanding by ‘bonding’ with each. Bonding is spending short periods of time talking socially with each – about sport or family or other interests. A good People Manager uses this time to build mutual respect and trust, but also to gain an insight in to the personality of this person. Structure and record your thoughts.
