The eBay Auction Site

article about eBay selling

Which other site is more familiar to the ears of any person with any idea of what the internet is? Of course, there are those that do not know what eBay is but most of them don’t know what cars are either. That is why the title of this article is simply, The eBay Auction Site.

You know what it is, I know what it is, and really, the only explanation we need for what it is, is its simple title. I think what people want to know more about the eBay auction site is not what it is, but what it can do for any particular person who would like to use it. How can the eBay auction site benefit me? That is what most people want to know. And, honestly, who doesn’t want to know that about anything?

Whether you are a seller or a buyer, you want get the most out of eBay. You want that instead of definitions and fluff and all the things you can learn directly from the eBay website itself. If you get on the internet and expect perfect explanations for using anything, then you must be advised that you may be a little on the side of naivety. You have to dig through the surface of most information to see if it is valid. Information, by the way, is only as good as its source.

Practicality is something that is important to me when using the eBay auction site. I learned quickly that someone’s theories are not a good foundation to take risks on. You do learn a lot by going out on your own, making your own mistakes and refraining from such mistakes, but you can also learn from the wisdom of others. I would like to offer some practical things I have learned during my experience selling on eBay. These are simple procedures, but procedures that will make a difference, even if a small difference and will boost your sales.

Here's another quick and easy way to gain top exposure for products you sell. Gaining e-Bay exposure and placing high in the Google search engine rankings (1/3 of all Internet searchs are done at Google!).

Simple? Yes! Almost always overlooked? Yes! Underutilized? Absolutely!

Let's suppose you decide to sell Flutes (or any other product), and you want top search engine placement for key words describing your product. What would be the quickest way to do that?

But there is a quicker way to get top search engine placement - and you don't even need a web site!

Here's the secret.

Instant Top Search Engine Placement

Let's say you decide to sell Flutes. And you don't want to bother creating a web site - but you do want to have Internet sales and you do want people who search Google.com to quickly find your products (even though you don't have a web site).

Here's how.

If you go to www.google.com and search for the key word 'flutes', you'll see the following:

FLUTES - Great Deals on eBay - Click Here! - One Click from Google Search

If you were to click that link, you'd see all items with the word 'flute' in the headline currently listed on eBay.

If you had an item listed on eBay with the words 'flute' in the headline, and if someone searched Google.com for the key word 'flute', they would only be one mouse click away from finding your item for sale.

Setting Realistic Goals for your eBay Business

Learn how to mimic eBay as a super efficient market by following foundational, strategic advice that will enhance your online business.

Setting goals sometimes seems like a useless task. It would seem if you want to do something, you just get to it and finish. Though that sounds easy enough, I think there is more to it than that.

Having something to work towards is important. If everyone’s business plan, or goal, were simply, “Make More Money” most businesses would not succeed. Though you can’t practically say, “My eBay business is just like Microsoft”, I believe it is a mentality that gets us where we want to be.

Success is measured subjectively, relative to each person. For some, hitting the million dollar mark is success, while for others it is the simple fact of being able to quit their job to stay at home and have that freedom. It’s important to establish what it means to be successful for you. Don’t just think about it, write it down. Know what you want, and don’t forget it. Ideas in our head almost always seem to drift away if we don’t manifest them somehow and sometimes immediate action isn’t possible… so simply write it down.

The practical thing to do, however, when it comes to eBay, is to measure your current business, or, if you’re just starting, to know how to measure it. This means taking into account your total sales and everything that goes along with that, such as your eBay fees, Paypal fees, what percentage of auctions ended successful compared to how many items were listed and the average price each item sold for.
