Team Building

Why invest in team-building?

Why invest in team-building?

In an offsite, informal setting, team building provides an opportunity for the leaders to get to know their team. Leaders often spot members who surprise them with their ability, initiative and potential. The way members behave in different exercises and games, gives leaders strong reason to make career decisions for their team members.

At the end of one of our team building intervention, the CEO said “This program gave me wonderful insights about people in my team. Now I know what resources my people have, and how can I use them wisely? In a day to day situation you are so busy fire-fighting, you don't have time to learn about other people, and find out what skills they have”.

Organizations benefit from a good quality team-building program in a number of ways. People get to know each other, spend quality time together, get a chance to learn about each other, specifically develop and demonstrate new team skills.

Going to the club, having a pizza together, playing cards, and going bowling for months can’t give you the results that a well-structured one day team building program can produce for you.

In our team building programs, participants will learn how to be more effective, efficient and achieve results while at the same time having lots of fun. The Result: The Company will make instant benefits. If everyone makes one change, or 1% change, then the cumulative figure will hit the business with a bang!

Many organizations may still have doubt whether investment in team building will pay off? Investment in a structured program with well thought-out goals and outcomes can actually give you a many fold advantage. A team-building event at a certain level gives you a lot more than just a fun day out. It really can make a significant business difference.

Using Incentives to Effectively Motivate Employees

One of the keys to effectively motivate employees is to realize that each employee is unique and is motivated in different ways and for different reasons. This can mean it is quite difficult to ensure that each staff member is reaching their potential, but by putting some time and effort into the motivational aspects of the business as a whole, employee productivity and satisfaction levels can be greatly increased.

A Motivated Leader is Essential:

The real truth is that without a motivated leader there are very few employees that will stay motivated. It is unrealistic to expect that management can fumble around their job roles, complain about the company or simply appear disinterested, and expect that staff motivation levels will be high. A happy, enthusiastic and motivated management team will help to nurture an enthusiastic work force.

Individual Motivators:

Each employee is unique. Their goals and lives are individual and so are the factors that motivate them. This is a key secret in effective motivational management. Understanding what will motivate each individual staff member and nurturing this can take a business to a new level. Get to know your employees, speak to them one-on-one and work with them to achieve their goals.

Trust and Delegation:

Allowing employees to be involved in taking responsibility for a business can increase their satisfaction and motivation. Become comfortable with recognizing employee strengths and abilities and passing on responsibility to them. The goal is not to overload employees with excess workloads, but to give them a sense of accomplishment, importance and belonging within the business.

Using Delegation to Increase Productivity

Most small business owners love their business, and of course they should – it’s their creation, hard work and vision. So it is understandable that many small business owners find it extremely difficult to come to terms with having to delegate work. But the truth is that in order to increase productivity for any business, delegation is essential.

For business owners who aren’t used to delegating, there are a few things that can be done to make the transition easier in the short term and to help guarantee success in the long term. Taking the time up front to initiate the transition to more delegated tasks is one that is worthwhile.

Establish Goals - The most important step any business owner can take before using this technique to increase productivity is to establish a clear goal for their business that is easily communicated to staff at every level. It must encompass what the business stands for, what it hopes to achieve and if possible what makes it the great business it is.

Document Procedures - Once the business goals are clear and ready to be communicated, it is important to implement an in-depth collection of policy and procedure manuals. Any task in the business that can physically be delegated to another staff member and away from the business owner should be. Each of these tasks should be jotted down, and an in-depth instruction manual created. This manual creation only needs to occur once and it will serve as the training base for all future employees.
